the end of us

The end of us is an experimental and moving game by Michael Molinari and Chelsea Howe. (Michael also brought us last year's excellent ...but that was [yesterday])

Couldn't follow it, the arrow keys were making the window scroll, so it went off screen all the time.

Wow... really amazing. I desperately tried to make the asteroids crash into the ocean and not land, but it turned out to be unnecessary to do so.

Amazing how it evokes emotion. I kept trying to find a way not to crash into the planet. Ending is very sad.

The love between two asteroid, playing with stars ... finally one is dying crashed on/by, (it's up to you to decide) the Earth...

And, this title, the end of us... The asteroid couple, or human beings ?

!?! Did I miss something ? ... I don't get the point of all this... after crashing the purple asteroid on the earth, the orange one just follows my mouse... what is sad or beautiful in this ?

Okay.....after destroying the asteroids.....I get a bunch of orange and white dots....how far up does it goes?

I didn't find it sad. The other game that this person made was, but not this one. I don't see the point of this game.

for those who didn't get it, the author wrote a little blurb explaining it. scroll down, it's in the "our philosophy" section. i think the trick is to realize that in these experimental games, you have to get away from the "so how do i get points and win" philosophy... this was more an interactive visual novel, hoping that you'd be able to dive into the story and identify with your protagonist..

having said that, i suggest you don't play it if you're depressed =( the ending was sad ><

and <SPOILER> i have trouble sacrificing myself... =( i tried to get in front of orange... but then at the very end, orange knocked me out of the way + i didn't have enough time to get back =( does what we do at the beginning affect our ability/orange's ability (or insistence) on saving each other? =/</SPOILER>

Nice, but why do americans (I bet this guy s american) always talk about friendship and moving on and stuff wich is in my opinion not a really original thing to talk about, this owww every friendship ends stuff, owww you really gotta learn how to move on, i just think it's so american. I may either move on or i don't, but I won't get on with my life after some game told me to. Thought this 'story' was much better, compared to ...but that was [yesterday], but still I think the story is al little 'chewed' as you say in dutch, told so many times before, nothing new really. Yeah, I felt like complaining, please don't get too mad at me...:)

I played it twice and I still don't get it. I don't find it to be sad at all. What's the deal with it being a sad game? Someone tell me please.

Complaining Anonymous, I feel you :) Although I like the idea of experimenting in games and you have to start with something, but I'm also missing the edge. Too European, I guess :D

OMG that is so deep... at first i didnt get it, but then i read the comments and realized... th-they were(sniff) s-so happy p-playing in the (sniff) st-st-sars...

I would have liked to play it, but like Boris said, using the arrow keys made the entire screen shift and rendered the game unplayable.

i liked it, but the message i got is love ultimately leads to ruin.

think about it: the two asteroids represent two people who fall in love, the asteroids hitting meteors represents problems, either physical or emotional, and the destruction of one of the meteors(i first lost the orange one, then i lost the purple one) represents the death of the relationship, either because one of the people in it dies or they decide to break it off.

What's so moving, amazing, beautiful, sad, and deep about this game? Did I miss somthing? I really don't get it. I just found this game to be long and boring.

wow. what a boring game. i don't think it was sad at all. i just don't get it. (P.S. for those who can't play the game, try clicking in the center of the game and it might work) Luck!:o)

Can't play. As others have said, up and down arrow keys cause screen to scroll on laptop.

i liked this game, but obviously its experimental and not a "game" per se. so there's nothing to "get" really, its more a mood piece. yeah, theres less going on than in most games but i hardly find it boring... the soundtrack is really nice too because it doesn't loop (that's specified underneath) so yeah

I actually hate this 'game'. It's so boring! And it seems so pointless...
