nothing [browser]

In the platfomer Nothing by JoelLikesPigs you start with nothing, not even controls. It's another entry for the 'start with nothing' themed Ludum Dare 45 game jam.

less linear & more funny than any of this type I have played.

I tried to backtrack all the way back from near the exit, after getting the right key, to see if any of the other unlockables I missed were any good. They weren't, and I ended up softlocked right before the fire section. I guess he didn't test backtracking and it produces a code error.

Anyway, cute game! I like how the unlockables just got ridiculous after a certain point (by which time you were trained to go for them). Maybe sometime I'll actually exit.

I seem to be missing sound. There are obvious sound gags, but I got none of them. Is this happening to anyone else?

Loaded the game in Chrome, pressed space to start the game, screen went to black. As the game is called Nothing, I tried all sorts of things on that black screen. Now that I have the game running in Firefox, I see that the Chrome session had simply failed, and the blank screen wasn't an intentional part of the game.

I often use the tab's "mute site" option.
Helps most of the time but I can miss stuff.

I didn't like it. Sometimes the character would just not do anything before getting crushed under one of the presses.

I liked it a lot! I doubled back through the level a couple times to collect all of the useless (but funny) upgrades. For an added challenge, see if you can get to the end of the game in blue mode, or with the elevator music playing, or both!

This is a convenient game for me to play at work.
Boss: "What are you playing?"
Me: "Nothing."
