lost ethereal

A short adventure game created for the 'create a game with a 64x64 resolution' lowrez gamejam: lost ethereal by Eric Howard.

That was kind of relaxing. Very simple game. The low-res graphics tend to give me a headache after a while, but the game didn't last long enough for it to be a real problem for me.

I don't get it at all! There are no instructions/directions, the resolution is so low it gave me a headache. I somehow by luck managed to unlock something, the water puzzle thing and I got to the bit where you can direct a ray of light, but what at? What for? What do you have to do? I moved it around for a while but gave up because with no story you have absolutely no idea what you are trying to achieve!

I agree with Tom, very relaxing. I would love to play a longer version if the developer chooses to expand it.

@Helen - did you notice the giant creature covered in black parasites? Maybe the lights could help free it? Don't worry about the lack of instructions, there's nothing in-depth about the game that requires guidance. Just explore and interact with the objects you find (there are seriously like 20 things in the whole game you can affect).

I liked it. I did find some bugs that were triggered when I tried to play it a 2nd time through after the credits, including one that made it impossible to finish the game.

Thanks for the hint about the parasites, I just thought that was his hair, so I tried shining the lights on his face.

It's a bit strange, but I like it ! Very interesting to see you can understand what to do even with no instructions and a low resolution.

Wait... so the god dudes (or dudettes) just go away and leave you stranded there? That's a great way to repay you for your help. (It looks at the end as though the floating rock pathways have drifted away from the forest where the character started and are floating above a large body of water at sunset. I mean, great view, but my little guy wants to go home.)

I liked the idea, although it did sort of give me a headache and the parasite things confused me as well. Maybe in the longer version promised, there could be enemies and dying, but with unlimited lives to allow for trial and error... or would that make it too mainstream and wreck the feel?

this left me breathless. I finished the game, had the ending and it was beautiful, lovely game. i love 8 bit games like these! thanks!

At the end of the game..
do the spirits float away?
or do the islands start falling?
I guess either way your character is screwed.

Enjoyed it very much. Loved the music and atmosphere. Puzzles were fun and not too hard. I love exploration type games.
