Manipulate moths using a light source attached to your body in the latest puzzle game Pull Chain by Steven Miller.

Reminds me of another of his games, "Shackle"

Nice game, but I don't get how the levels in the Snow area from Glimpse and in the Catching area from Stay and Crossing work. Any help would be great :).

Anonymous said...

Apparently there is a mechanic to turn the light off and to "ride the box" but I can't figure it out. At a dead end.

Stevens Miller said...

How does this work? I get to "Introduction," but then it just does dead. All I can do is press Escape.

For "Glimpse" you need to get the snowball on the button, then melt the snowball while lining the lightbulb up with the moth at the same time.

If you have any advice for "Sort" and "The Wall" from snow that'd be appreciated, stuck on those and a bunch from the Catching area

eszterencs said...

Hint for "The Wall": you have to keep 1 snowball in every row. Some of them need to be pushed to the left to make room.

More hint: you need to keep the last one in row 1,2 and 4, and the first one in row 3.

Detailed walkthrough (rot13): Fgneg jvgu gur svefg ebj (5 onyyf), chfu vg evtug, gvyy lbh unir bayl bar onyy va frpbaq ebj. Chfu gung onyy gb gur evtug bar fgrc. Chfg gur yrsgbire bar onyy va gur guveq ebj yrsg, bar fgrc. Gurer vf bar onyy va gur sbhegu ebj, chfg vg evtug nyy gur jnl ba gur ohggba. Tb onpx gb gur frpbaq ebj, chfu gur onyy yrsg, juvyr zryg 3 bs 4 va gur svefg ebj. Lbh pna qb gur erfg.

Hint for sort: you definitely need the stone on the right switch, so you need to put the snowball on the left switch. Keep in mind that your lamp moves in a different way around obsticles.

Anonymous said...

Here's a hint for stay: Your first goal should be turning the light off. Everything else comes after

Anonymous said...

For crossing, there's a way to push the moth up after you return to below

Anonymous said...

Any hints for row?

Anonymous said...

i also was confused at first. you need to hit the right arrow to go to the first world

Anonymous said...

wait, that's wrong. hit spacebar on 'introduction' and then you'll see 4 connected icons. if you hit spacebar on "area select" you get transported back to 'introduction.' so you have to move right to 'beginning' and they you can hit spacebar, and start playing.

this was very confusing and i ended up trying a different browser because i thought the game was broken. i'm glad i wasn't the only one who was confused

Anonymous said...

For Row, the lightbulb should never be adjusted vertically

Anonymous said...

I'm clearly missing something for Offset. I have no idea what mechanism I need to employ to do it right

Anonymous said...

Nevermind got it, figured out the issue with offset

Anonymous said...

I've made it to the "Bloom" world now

Meblin said...

Care to share as I have no idea

Anonymous said...

I still don't get : Thread, Glimpse, sort, stay, offset, setup, gap - any more hints?

Meblin said...

For sort, if the lamp is on top of the block and you are to the left, when you move left the lamp stays diagonally to the right of you.

Anonymous said...

Any more hints for stay, offset, setup, gap?

Anonymous said...

A walkthrough would be so nice!

Anonymous said...

Stuck in the "Ceiling" Area now

Anonymous said...

Offset is a lot like the "Glimpse" level in the snow area. You just need to set it up right and make a move. The buttons can be pressed only once, they cannot be held down.

Meblin said...

I can time it so the buttons get presses at the same time but Cannot do anything with the door to get it to stay open or get the moth at the bottom to move

Anonymous said...

The bottom moth on "Offset" needs some setup as well

Anonymous said...

On the "Advanced" Area now. Dunno if I can get past it, stuff looks complicated to say the least

Anonymous said...

I still can't beat "The wall" level

Can anyone help me with the transfer level?

Anonymous said...

Any hints for confined?

Meblin said...

How do you move the moth back up in crossing?

eszterencs said...

Confined: I assume you have managed to put the stone on the button. Do that, but push the stone one step further (under the lift); you will push it back on the button on your way down to the target.

eszterencs said...

Hint: Don't forget that you can swich off your lamp.

Solution for transfer (rot13): nggenpg gur zbgu gb lbhe vfynaq, naq zbir vg bire gur rqtr nobir gur ynfg, ybatre pbyhza (va sylvat cbfvgvba). Fjvgu bss lbhe ynzc, naq cbfvgvba lbhefrys ba gur pbeare, jvgu gur ynzc va gur fnzr ebj nf gur fjvgpu. Fjvgpu ba lbhe ynzc, gung jvyy nggenpg gur zbgu.

Still haven't managed to clear any of the levels in the "Advanced" area as of yet. Been able to go back and clear a few of the prior levels I was having trouble with though.

Awsome, thank you

Thanks

Can someone help me with catching?

Any tips for no entry?

I can't get Canyon for some reason

Which level in catching?

Oh, that level drove me nuts as well, I couldn't solve it for days. Yet very simple...

Solution: Qb vg va gur frpbaq ebj sebz gur obggbz.

Meblin said...

I could do with help with Crossing in this area

eszterencs said...

Hint: You have to keep the left moth in place. To do this, you either need to switch off your lamp or cover the way of your light with the other moth.

Solution: Nsgre gur fgbar vf va cynpr, lbh pna fjvgpu ba lbhe yvtug naq nggenpg gur zbgu, gura fjvgpu bss gur yvtug ntnva, naq chfu gur zbgu gb gur evtug fvqr. Guvf jnl lbh pna nggenpg gur zbgu bire gur tnc.

I can't get any of the advanced ones: any help for gate or over?

Anonymous said...

Still stuck on the Advanced area as well. If anyone wants help getting there ask about levels, the more minds working on Advanced the better.

Meblin said...

@eszterencs I have been able to do this but cannot find any way to swich the light on to attract the moth to the top without the other moth moving

Anonymous said...

I have 8 levels until I can give my full attention to the Advanced area:
[Variety]: Idea, Path, Trigger, Snow Rotation, Tunnel, and Islands
[Ceiling]: Distance and Signal.

Any/all hints most welcome

Anonymous said...

I beat Tunnel at some point, but I can't remember the solution for the life of me. As for the rest, stuck on those too and then some.

Anonymous said...

-Okay, managed to remember what I did for Tunnel. Here's the starting set-up and goal in rot13:

Bar Zbgu ba gur ohggba sbe gur oyhr cyngsbez. Frpbaq zbgu ba gur oyhr cyngsbez (ybjrerq, abg sylvat). Yvtugohyo ba gbc bs gur frpbaq zbgu.

Got it, thank you! Happy to exchange help on any of the pre-Advanced levels I've solved :)

@Meblin you don't need to attract it, you can push it. I am not sure if I understand well the problem, but when the moth is on the right side in the bottom line, you can attract it _over_ the gap while your head is _in_ the gap. This way you can push it upwards.

Meblin said...

Thanks for the guidance. I read some of the official hits and worked it out, eventually 8D

The solution posted here is not correct (unless there is an alternate way that I don't see). The author posted hints here that may help: https://itch.io/post/16128398
