Fill the whole ocean with your tentacles in the puzzler OctoPuzz, created by Knexator for Thinky Puzzle Game Jam 5. (Z key to undo a move, R key to restart a level)
I am a bit baffled by the 2nd level. I have lit up all the numbered tentacles, and filled in the left over spots with the plain tentacles and still no joy. What am I missing?
You need to light up the tentacles, and the other spots as well as fill in all empty squares (basically all circles need to be green). Note that these numbers are mutually exclusive.
Some hint: Colors help with odd and even numbers, for example, if the target field is 9 and yellow, you have to start from a yellow field. It is not necesseraly the tenctacle with the 9 on it, it can be any unmarked one as well. I suggest to start with the 15-long tentacles. The playground has 64 fields, and 4 is already filled with the octopus, so you have 60 to fill. That means you cannot have more than 2 of 15-long tentacles, otherwise would not have place for the 9-long ones. What I mean: both 15-long tentacles has to end in the 15-target field. If you managed to arrange this two long one, the others should be easier.

ReplyDeleteI'm having a hard time with Level 2 as well. What do you mean by "mutually exclusive?"
DeleteDo you mean that a number 9 tentacle doesn't necessarily need to end on a number 9 circle, but rather fill 9 squares?
DeleteA tentacle of lenght 9 hase to end at 9. That tantacle doesn't have to have any number on it.
DeleteI was able to figure out level 2 quite easily but I am still stuck on level one. Does anyone have some hints?
