deliver to whence you came [browser]

Deliver the meal, don't become one yourself, in this puzzle platformer where the world is alive: Deliver To Whence You Came created by JUSTCAMH for the 'delivery' themed Ludum Dare 53 game jam. (controls: cursor keys to move, right and left mouse click + move mouse to aim)

  1. Well, I'm stupid again. The comments on that page are all, "Wow!," but I can't get it to do much. Just kicks the ball around. What am I not doing?

  2. You can also aim by moving the mouse, aim it to the next screen on the right...
(When you try to go there, it tells you to bring the meal).

  3. Weird but good.

  4. Not bad, but really unpredictable. There don't seem to be any rules for how the "lure" affects the ground.

  5. That wasn't really a puzzle platformer so much as a bang-your-head-against-the-wall-until-the-janky-mechanics-eventually-give-you-what-you-need platformer. Seriously, that was just plain awful.

  6. Such a rich color palette, too. I counted at least four shades of grey-brown, against a grey-brown background.

  7. I think that people might not be realizing that the ground is made of worms and that they try to move so they can eat the lure.

  9. The game is a lot more comprehensible when you play with the smaller number of worms in the late levels, they perhaps could have introduced that earlier

Also, there's something that glows under the orb in at least two levels if you knock it into the upper-right area; it says "CREATE MEAL" or something to that effect; is this a secret, help text, or something else, I don't understand it?

  10. The game doesn't really work on Macs with the Trackpad. Ctrl+Click does nothing (to do right click).

  11. I'm with most people. This game has cool ideas but the game play is more annoying than fun. Fling a lure or a ball, hope the worms crawl the way you want...oops, no, retry again and again until you find the place that makes it possible to get through the level. No thanks.

  12. Once I finally figured it out, I couldn't stop playing.

  13. First time through, got the 'food' stuck and gave up. Second time through I understood the mechanics better and managed to finish in just over 16 minutes.

The 'worms' will head to the lure, but they can only move forwards. If they can reach the lure, then they will 'eat' it and stop, but if it's in an inaccessible place, they will circle it instead. It's still a little hit an miss, but that can help to decide where to throw the lure.

Nice idea, but tricky mechanics, and way too dark.

  14. I think it could use slightly easier to see heads.
also saving progress for those of us who don't have a lot of time to play.

  15. What a unique set of mechanics, I have never seen anything similar. Very interesting!
