semantris [browser]

Semantris is a set of two word association games powered by Google's machine learning. In the arcade game you are trying to find a word that is associated the most with the word on top of a list. In the blocks game you are trying to eliminate word blocks by typing word clues.

  1. Nice one, i like this!! :D
Although sometimes i don't understand some weird connections between those phrases,
    like Archer and White Wine,
While Bow and Arrow was in those blocks as well!! ._.

  4. Sometimes weird... I tried "small human" for "child" and it thought "Pfizer"...

  5. I agree that sometimes its connections were not at all logical. I had "iceskating" on the board, typed in "Torvill and Dean", and the computer chose "house" instead.

  8. This is fun! Sometimes if I type the same word in another language, I get the association I wanted... and sometimes not.

  9. I lost because it associated "Leonardo" with "Peter Pan" rather than "inception" as I intended

  10. the weirder the association, the better your score :)

  12. Weird... Room service is connected to moon rather than hotel...

  13. This is fun, but wow the arcade version is a typing challenge it goes so fast.

  14. There is some tension when it is picking between two words to associate with your typed word. It thinks about it for a second and then it doesn't pick the word you wanted. Frustrating. I wish it could show the reasoning for the chosen word.

  16. @wyatt - my best in the Blocks version is 8600. My best on the Arcade version is 3045.

@eightoclock - I wish that in the Blocks version that after it has chosen the word, we could tell it which word we intended, so it can "learn" some more associations! Sometimes the word I was trying to link to is one of its top 2 or 3 (so it sees the association, even if it thinks something else is stronger) but sometimes it eliminates the word I was trying to link to almost immediately so it obviously doesn't understand the association I was trying to make.

  17. @wyatt - I just managed to get 6200 in the Arcade version - it was really difficult though! I haven't beaten my previous best of 8200 for Blocks yet.

  19. You can game it by typing in words you don't want it to pick.

  20. Super duper fun. However, yeah, weird associations. I lost out on fast mode cause the word was "meditation" and it wouldn't take peace, quiet or rest. I agree that the fast mode moves a teeny bit too fast. Even If I had associations down pat, a bumble on the keyboard meant falling WAY behind.

  21. I'm not a native english speaker, so arcade version was a nice challenge for me.
