the happy escape 9

Tesshi-e prepared another room for your point and click enjoyment. Can you escape from the room in the happy escape 9? (you can switch between Japanese and English language in the opening screen)

  1. Hooraaaaayyy! I read Tesshi-E's Twitter feed on his page and he said that his computer broke down a few months back. Good to know he's back in business!

  2. This is a nice one... not too difficult and no pixel hunts, though make sure to look at the bottom of the table as well as the top.

The only puzzle that tripped me up at first was the clue for the picture corners, which was not what I was expecting. Spoiler: followjustoneoftheshapesaroundthecornerswhichone?whichisshownonthepicture?

You might wonder what the buttons with letters are for, but that will becomeclear once you find them all.

  3. One more hint - I forgot about one other pixelish point - you can click on the window above the shelf opposite the bed. That handle might come in handy once you have a screwdriver.

  4. I have the handle and the screwdriver, but, as of yet, no idea for what to do with the handle.

Also, I found a battery and used it...but I think I need it elsewhere also...am I right? Is it supposed to be re-used? Is there more than one battery in the game?

  5. Veewee - Battery is only used once. Check the side of the bed.

  7. Thanks @Anonymous!

I think I have everything now...like, 10 coins...but how does one actually open the door?! Feeling supremely stupid...

  10. The only thing that bugs me about these games is that you can escape the room before you escape the game; i.e.: I got a key to the balcony midway through the game. Then when I finished I ended up on the same balcony. Did I really escape or do I just think I did? Or had I escaped before and didn't realize it?

  11. The thing that stumped me was how to turn the fosset. Turns out I already had the item I needed, I just didn't realise it. Makes me feel so stupid.

    I love these games.

  12. Only had trouble with one sneaky happy coin! (If you're out, you know the one I mean!)

  13. @Carol: is that a philosophical question? :3 Like "am I in the Matrix" kind of question?

If you were actually wondering about the difference between escaping and being on the balcony:
According to the storyline, the protagonist booked this hotel for a vacation, knowing full well that the "gimmick" of this hotel is that you will be locked in once you arrive, and have to find the happy coin and "escape". When you found the key to the balcony, you haven't "escaped" yet... unless you plan to jump off the balcony. So you successfully "escape" only when you found the key to the front door. Now that you/the protagonist have completed the "escape activity" provided by the hotel, you can relax and enjoy the rest of your stay here... which includes the balcony, and the bed, and the washroom (omg, where's the bathtub???), and the apparent iced tea and pizza delivery service, and I assume a beach and other "activities" at the hotel.

Recently a lot of IRL escape room facilities have popped up in major cities around the world. Can't wait til someone makes a resort based on this.

  14. I'd love to try an escape a room in real life!!! I'd probably starve to death inside, but still.

  15. That tenth coin really IS sneaky.
Had to watch the walkthrough two times because I blinked the first time :)

  16. I know I'm late,
    but this game is great.
    Only slow downs were:
    misreading the clock &
not seeing the last key drop.
    Hats off to the makers.

Fun game. Takes so much time.

Anyone know where the "sneaky" coin is?
