langman

Langman by Ehren von Lehe is an interesting combination of hangman and platforming. Move around with the cursor keys and guess letters with the space bar. (needs the Unity web player)

  3. hey bart,
why do you keep posting a bunch of games where you need the unity thing. only a few people have that you know.

  4. Unity is growing lexi. It only takes a one time simple install just like you once had to do for Flash.
I think you should get it, because the next game I'm making is going to be a Unity one :)

  5. I personally love the unity games, they are a nice new 3d experience with better graphics and faster loading times.

  8. @Fitz

Well, it quite sums up the story, doesn't it?
Anyway, I really liked this original game!
    Dank je Bart!

  13. I can't get past level 6! Help!

  14. Kind of fun, but I didn't like the words they were trying to get us to guess. I played it a few times and all of the words were computer related. I knew some of them, but not all. What the heck is a turing machine?

    ReplyDelete
  15. William Shakespeare is not computer related.

  16. Seriously? "Dot matrix printer?" "Rembrandt van Rijn?" Some phrases were way too hard and I only figured them out by accidentally standing on the wrong block when I guessed.
Also, the graphics were a bit slow and the motions too jerky, but maybe that was just my computer.
Well, other that that, it was a pretty good game. ;)

  17. @NotMarian- A Turing machine is a kind of code generator. I think.

  18. The Turing test: a conversation between person #1 and person #2, and person #1 and a computer. All are hidden from each other and "talk" via keyboard/screen. If person #1 can't tell which is person #2 and which is computer, the computer passes the test - it displays "intelligence". The test was in a paper by Alan Turing in 1950.

  19. Well holy crap, I don't know what to do! The word blanks aren't appearing in the screen, so I'm just jumping around guessing random letters with no clue where they are in the hangman word! Are there supposed to be blank spots at the top? All I have are Langman man and a bunch of letters to step on, with no idea where the letters are in the phrase.

  20. Thanks for the mention, Bart!

For anyone seeing jittery graphics, try changing the quality to "fastest" under the settings menu.

@Jami, I'm not sure what's preventing the blanks from showing. Can you post your OS/Browser versions?

Hint for level 15: stars are good for more than just points. Don't be greedy.

  21. I think my computer graphics card is just sucky. I switched computers and now it's all good.

I cannot figure out level 15. That hint above about the stars isn't helping me. I CAN'T GET UP THERE GRRRR

    @ Jami

Yeah, level 15 is surely the hardest. I played it a lot until I understand how to get up there :D

  24. Hi Bart, I have only gotten the Unity player to work once, and lately I just get a message "failed to update unity player". I tried reinstalling, but no go. I will check with tech support at work, maybe my computer is too old?

  25. Unity is good. Have a look at Gravity Bone, the Quest For R2D2, and Antimatiere. I can't wait to see Bart's Unity game!

  26. i cant get past level 12! tips anyone?

  27. There are brief glimpses of some of the solutions (including level 11) in this trailer: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aaAnuWd6WP4

    SPOILER-SPOILER-SPOILER
For level 12, try pushing the horizontal pillar to the right, then to the left. Hope that helps!

  28. Unity is good; this game is not. The graphics are dismal compared to what Unity can do, and the hangman words are insanely easy (letter frequency ETAOIN SHRDLU gets all that I tried).

The only attraction is the physics, and that's uneven, jerky, buggy and mostly pointless.

The world can probably tolerate another 3D hangman, but this is not it.

    ReplyDelete
  29. @dyork: if you found the words too easy, try increasing the difficulty in the Settings menu.

Also, can you explain what you mean by the physics being "uneven, jerky, buggy"? Does this change if you tweak the graphics quality (also in the Settings menu)?
