dusk child

You have been drawn to a mysterious place, what secrets does it hold, and what will they mean for you? Dusk child, a puzzle platformer by Sophie Houlden. (move with the cursor keys and use the Z-key to examine/pick-up/drop things)

Ugh I'm stuck; how can I get past the eyedols? I thought turning around, when in range would help, but I can't move that way.

Have you got the orb? It makes you immune to the eyedols :)

Can anyone help me, I can't get past the fire. I'm guessing you use the bucket and water but I can't figure out how!

Ah! Don't worry about the fire question, I figured it out! I'm really enjoying this game, the artwork is lovely. :)

AWESOME!! So much fun! I love going up in flames! Intriguing ending, as well.

Managed to beat it with only 1 orb. XD

How to pass the fire?

Anyone?

as mentioned already, there is an oversight with this game.

I would really like some help with the fire as well. I feel like I must be missing something obvious.

Ignore the fire for now. Go the other way. Once you reach the tablet, you can press x to set yourself on fire and therefore pass through the fire unharmed. (Be careful around waterfalls though)

What oversight?

Tablet?

I don't even see how to go anywhere after you fall down, all paths are blocked and there is nothing to find to open them.

I'm lost. It says that I need to "replace the keystone" but I don't remember where I got the keystone exactly. :(

PK said...

Okay, nm, I understand -- the keystones have to go into the slots above the huge door. That wasn't obvious to me.

But now I'm at a different spot. I have both keystones in place, and then I went back and did the "tricky" puzzle so I could get the orb. Now I'm in the big room with the really "tall" eyedol ("Keep your head down"). It seems obvious that I need to jump up and to the right -- but I can't jump that high. What am I missing?

Queen of Eyes said...

PK, you should take the text on the sign ("Keep your head down") very literally as you make your way across the room.

Argh, okay, so there's a second way up, past the top spiky room. But now what? There's just another stature here, like the one in the Western temple. This game doesn't exactly give you any guidance once you've got the two gems in place. What's my goal? I have no idea. Which is a shame, because I was enjoying this game until it stopped caring. :P

Queen of Eyes: Thanks, but that wasn't my question. I don't know what I'm supposed to do to actually *beat the game*, because there are no instructions past "replace the two keystones" and I did that a while back. So now I'm just wandering around with a spare Orb with no clue what my mission is.

I can't open the door. I've put both the gems in but it still won't open. I've already gone to the room at the top and used the orb to keep the door open but then I just drop back down to the bottom :/

Here's a hint for when you've got both gems. (I got stuck there too.) There's a right-facing statue in the west temple that corresponds to the left statue by the big door, and a left-facing statue in the east temple that corresponds to the right statue by the big door. To open the door, you need to interact with these statues in a certain way. Your hint is their hair.

it's an awesome little game! I loved the athmosphere! I just wish the game would tell you to start using X when you get the ability. But anyway, the challange was exciting! I love it ^_^

I gave up after the spiky room. I could see how I could finish, but I died a gazillion times trying to get back up and I got frustrated and quit.

Finished!

I wasted so much time dragging around spare orbs or leaky pails.
I missed the shape clues & my jumping was jerky.
in hind sight if it was a polished game it would be too short.

Nat R. said...

Not too long- just the right length. Wish the ending were more satisfying though... what actually happens???
